I don’t talk about politics on RER because I don’t want to alienate any individual with my right and well researched view points of how the world must work. I live in a complimentary country and I have the Camiseta Aston Villa FC ideal to my opinion without having to justify it to anyone.
Today we’re talking about the us government.

No, I will not share my personal party views. (Although it probably doesn’t take a Poli-Sci undergrad to figure it out.)
(Side note: This cartoon is the reason I’m convinced Natalie Dee and I must be best friends.)
I’m talking about the government shutdown.
Yesterday I learned on the Marine Corp Marathon FB page that they may have to cancel the race because of the shutdown. AH!
And when I went to say something about it a reader emailed me with out the government shutdown is affecting her life. With her permission, this is how the shutdown is hurting one of many…
Monica,
I’m a furloughed federal employee and I feel for friends who can’t run their marathon, but it’s hardly the greatest problem that’s come from this shutdown.
Real isn’t canceling a marathon- real is when families that have lost a solider have to wonder if they’ll be able to be there when their loved one’s body comes home. real is when the mother of 3 with an active task solider husband doesn’t know when the paycheck will arrive.
At Camiseta SC Braga this point, I’ve missed a lot more than a paycheck. I’m anxious about how I’ll pay my rent this month. people who have FHA loans can’t get mortgages, and so lots of other dramatic impacts.
I absolutely get that people spend months training for marathons. For lots of it’s a huge personal accomplishment that they’ve worked and struggled towards for years.
I know outside DC it’s hard to see the everyday impacts of the shutdown unless you’re poor or in the military. They’re Camiseta Selección de fútbol de Gales real. people are scared. At the end of this week Congress may have caused a bigger economic meltdown than the great depression.
We must be talking about how Congress has failed us. how we must demand better government. all of this was 100% avoidable, if members of Congress worked together.
I’m sorry to be short, and so frustrated, but the fact of the matter is that I’m scared. I don’t know how this will shake out. people must be watching, but they’re not. people must be reminding elected officials that they vote, and that they pay attention, but they’re not.
Congressmen/women can neglect young women like you and I because they think we don’t care, and that marathons are the only crucial things. I’d encourage you to challenge yourself, and your readers to look beyond the immediate personal impacts to the larger impact on our country. even if it’s just this week, remind your readers to care about what their elected officials are doing. any individual can reach their member of Congress by calling the house switchboard at 202-224-3121.
Then you can worry about cancelled marathons. You can call your congressman to complain!
Do with this post what you like and please remember that YOUR VOICE COUNTS, but you have to use it. #PassItOn
